Substance Painter Blog Project 3 [Part 1]
Substance Painter Fundamentals:
For the first chapter of Substance Painter Fundamentals it will give a course overview of what the tutorial will talk about in the next chapters / sections.
In Chapter 2, Baking Texture Maps and Moving around the UI, it will talk about the following:
Baking Additional Maps:
For the First part of the tutorial it is showing me how to open a file/ new project.
Then goes over Texture Set which can be adjusted to turn on or off. There can be multiple texture sets so it makes it easier to only work on one area at a time if the others are turned off. Then It will go over Bake Texture Maps.
Navigating the Viewports: This part will only show how to navigate through the viewport in Substance Painter. Just by holding Tab at first will show the material viewport and from there if I forget how to move around I can hold Alt or Options to see the different hotkeys.
Match by Name Baking:
Not much being done other then Baking the Material Map but It keeps on crashing even if I only bake one at a time. Problem Still happened so now I have to have to only bake map in 1024 and not 2048 or 4096. I also had to use the low poly mesh as high poly because it would still crash.
Further Exploring the UI: This part will talk about more of the UI and where everything is. Note looking at this part when I look through the different maps there is a difference in the low poly, but I can't change it because it will crash.
<----- Mine Tutorial ----->
End Result of Chapter 2:
For this Chapter I backed maps but I had lot of crashing errors on my side ( around 8 times ), but I was able to bake the texture map my way. Now I hope the way I did it will actually work in the future of this tutorial. I also learned how to navigate through the UI, match by name bake, and customize the UI and Lighting.
In Chapter 3, Laying Down Materials, I will be working on the following:
Painting Material:
More of an intro and information to the different shades for texturing.
Using Brushes: (Video) Goes over the Brush tool, Painting Materials, Erasing Tool, Switching between Materials, etc...
Using Layers:
For this Part it shows me how to use and add layers to work on. (Similar concept to Photoshop)
The same thing with renaming and deleting layers. Also the opacity for each layer and a specific material.
Brush Presets:
Here It shows me the different preset brushes that are available in Painter. Also there are options to change the Size, Flow, Stroke Opacity, Spacing, and more in the brush area above the Material.
Particle Brushes/ Other Brushes:
This part shows me the different particle brush effects that are available in Painter as well as how I can adjust them. A Quick Video Below...
Using Fill Layers:
This part of the tutorial shows how I can use a Fill Layer tab in Painter. I pick which texture set I want to paint fast without having to paint it with just brush strokes. I can also use the same colors from my baked maps to change the color also. Picture below for one example.
I will also be using a design from the procedurals Tab in the shelf. Picture example.
Creating Base Materials:
For this part I will be working on my base materials for the Head and the Legs ( No more playing around with different textures, particles, brushes, etc.).
I will first start of with a premade Iron Rough Material and after that adjusting the Parameters. From there I will be adding in fill Layers and adjusting them also. Picture below
End Result of Chapter 3:
In the end of the tutorial I've learned how to use the paint brush tool, how I can adjust Layers, Creating my own brush or adjusting it, fill layers, and using preset materials in substance painter.
Picture below of what I have at the moment. ( Where I left off on Ch 3)
